In June 2023, selected students from WU’s SIMC master program presented findings to partner executives as part of the business project course on Twin Transition.
The course offered students a unique opportunity to collaborate with two of Austria’s leading energy firms. It focused on driving strategic decisions for managing sustainability and digitalization, with an emphasis on innovation, product portfolio analyses, and strategic positioning. One group conducted an industry, market, and competitor analysis of heat pumps in Austria, whereas the other groups explored circular economy as a future growth area for the company. This involved analyzing the drivers and enablers of circular economy in the energy sector and evaluating specific markets and their future relevance for the company. Overall, the students conducted thorough analyses based on desk research and expert interviews, and delivered sophisticated strategic recommendations and practical deliverables , contributing to the strategic growth of these organizations. Throughout the course, students gained valuable experience as top-management consultants and enhanced their strategic management capabilities.
