This Innovation Talk with the title “State-of-the-Art Tools of Trend-/Foresight-/Environmental Analysis” was held by Thomas Boermans, Head of Foresight, Group Strategy, Sustainability & Innovation at E.ON.

In this talk, the discussion was about the multifaceted timeframes that energy companies must consider in their operations. The speaker highlighted the immediate need to ensure the reliable operation of critical infrastructure and the implementation of existing plans over the next approximately three years. Furthermore, the conversation delved into the long-term objectives concerning the energy transition and other societal goals. The central questions that emerged were how to navigate the path towards these objectives, what opportunities and risks are inherent along the way, and how E.ON can best prepare for them. Within E.ON, a dedicated team known as E.ON Foresight, continuously works with these topics. The talk primarily focused on strategies for anticipating developments and harnessing the resulting insights for the benefit of the company, drawing from both successful experiences and lessons learned from past analyses.
