Master Thesis on IoT Ecosystem Framework for the Energy Industry

The master thesis “Challenges and Solutions with IoT Integration: An IoT Ecosystem Framework for the Energy Industry” examines the role of the Internet of Things (IoT) for the energy industry. Here is the abstract:

This thesis focuses on the Internet of Things integration into an energy firm. The purpose of thesis is to understand the recent developments of the Internet of Things from a managerial perspective in the energy industry. The first research aim is to identify and discuss the top challenges for Internet of Things ecosystem collaboration and coordination with viable solutions to each challenge. The second aim is the development of a framework of human and non-human actors of an Internet of Things ecosystem, which can be applied, specifically to the energy industry. The framework further aids in the decision-making process for Internet of Things integration. According to expert interviews and supporting literature, a total of eight challenges were discovered to occur most frequently during IoT integration process. Following the challenge analysis are possible solutions to each. The analysis concluded that there is a lack of a unified understanding of the Internet of Things. However, the developed framework can serve as a practical visualization of human and nonhuman actors in an Internet of Things ecosystem for the energy industry, and aid in the decision-making process for Internet of Things
